Is it just me or do you guys think he's... I don't even know how to put it. Mean? Bitter? Angry? Annoying?

I think he's quite grumpy. Maybe it's because he's a God so he really doesn't care about mortals, but none of the other Gods/Goddesses we've met have been so mean!

OHOH I just thought of the word - he's STUCK UP!

Yeah, Weiryn's never struck me as being the nicest guy. It's sort of like he's incapable of showing any positive emotion, although I don't mean that in a mean way - whenever he was trying to be...I don't know, loving to Daine, he always came across as sort of gruff and embarassed. I think it's easier for him to express his emotions through anger or irritation.

Well, he's a god. He's never felt obliged to be nice to people. You know the way kids sometimes act, when they don't make friends in primary school? They find it harder to interact. Like that.

Weiryn is Daine's father... I won't say anymore if you haven't read the books yet.

I've never seen it as being any way related to his godship.

I just think it's in his personality to be gruff and aloof.

And I actually really like him. He makes a nice change and he's an interesting character.

Well, he did say that he was a god so he doesn't care about mortal affairs. Still... what kind of God doesn't care about mortal affairs? O_o I can see if they don't care about mortal affairs from time to time... but... all the time? Weird.

Well, I was't under the impression that most humans cared about the gods beyond what the gods could do to them...

>>Still... what kind of God doesn't care about mortal affairs? <<

A woodlands and mountain hunt god who, when he interacts with humans at all, interacts mostly with hunters--who tend to be pretty solitary in those settings--and the odd female who wanders off by herself. He's also never had a kid before--he's relatively young as gods go--and is still getting used to this idea of being interested in them long after they leave the nest, or the herd, or whatever.

He's also extremely rare among gods in that he married his mortal love interest. Not only that, but he called in an awful lot of divine favors to have her made a goddess, too. It should tell you something about how very wonderful Sarra was to him, to make him so devoted and steadfast, when gods aren't the most faithful of creatures, and to make him believe he wanted a relationship longer than a century or two.

In other words, expect the different from Weiryn. It's these mountain men--or gods. In the long run, you never know what they're going to do, and you hardly ever know why, because they're not exactly chatterboxes.

Also because they're Gods. *hehehe*

I see... I guess that makes sense. The relationship between Sarra and Weiryn has always stumped me... but love is love!

Annoyed that his daughter loves a mage that he is most definately does not like? And he does have a superiority complex going on.
But a guy with green skin? No wonder Sarra loves him. But we must also take into consideration that:
