Spoiler Space for umm... Alanna. SPOILER SPACE**** SPOILER SPACE FOR**** ALANNA**** SPOILER SPACE FOR ALANNA *****
OK. Since Thom died, who is now the Lord and/or Lady of Trebond? Cause they always say, "Alanna of Pirate's Swoop and Olau" not "Alanna of Pirate's Swoop, Olau, and Trebond". Also, what is/was Alanna's last name? The books always refered to her as Alanna of Trebond or Alanna of Pirate's Swoop and Olau. That's not her last name, is it? George has a last name, Cooper. So now that Alanna married him, is that her last name? If so, what was her last name before she married? Please reply

Nobles don't have last names. They're just So-and-so from Someplace. Commoners, like George, DO have last names because they aren't the lord or whatever of a fiefdom, so they aren't "of" anywhere. George became the baron of Pirate's Swoop before they were married, so he wasn't a commoner anymore, but even if he was Alanna outranked him, so she most likely wouldn't have taken his name. She's still the heir of Olau, after all. ^^

I think somewhere in Trickster's Choice it mentions that Coram is now the Baron of Trebond, which I think was a very intellegent move on the part of Alanna.

I'm not sure who the Lord of Trebond is, but I can answer your other questions.
Alanna doesn't have a last name, because she's a noble. She married George, and George became a noble. He is no longer George Cooper. He's Geoger of Pirate's Swoop.

Most of what you're saying is true, but you're insinuating that George is a noble because he married Alanna; that's not true. He was already Baron of Pirate's Swoop before they got married. She gave Trebond to Coram, and so now she only has the Swoop, which she jointly owns with George, and Olau, which she will inherit when Myles dies (not that that stubborn old man will ever die ).

>If nobles dont have last names, howcome Aly's last name is crow? >Tammy said in one of her spoiler posts that Aly took Nawat's last >name.
If Tammy follows the rules of real life nobility: with this marriage Alianne lost her status as a noble, since she took Nawat's name. So, Aly is a commoner now with a real last name.

Actually, I'm fairly certain that she took him name because, as far as most people knew, she was already a commoner. Nobles don't lose their nobility, or that's not something I've ever heard of. She simply went from "Aly Homewood" to "Aly Crow."

I'm sure Dove will ennoble the family at some point, for service to the crown, just as Jon ennobled George and Coram (and Rispah was ennobled by then marrying Coram). But even if Aly had been living in Rajmuat under her own name, she would have become a commoner's wife when she married Nawat.
And it wasn't Alanna who gave Trebond to Coram, it was Jon. The title reverted to the control of the crown when there was no male heir of the bloodline to inherit it. Some Tortallan fiefdoms are inherited that way; some it doesn't matter if the heir is male or female. It all depends on how the royal grant was made in the first place. With Trebond, inheritance was secured only to the male line. Now it will be Coram's heirs, and (with Rispah's and Alanna's eyes on him when he negotiated and received the grant and signed it) the fiefdom will now pass to his heirs, whatever their sex, male or female.
Not that he would have assigned inheritance only to the boys on his own!
I hope.
Really, it's just as well, don't you think?

Coram and Rispah's heirs, eh? I don't recall reading about any littl'uns... have there been any mentioned that I've missed? Does Coram plan to name an heir, like Myles did to Alanna?

Wasn't Coram training some guy to do that when Allana was on her way to the City of the Gods with George so she could talk to Thom about a certain smilin gentleman?
